We did this hike October 12, 2023. This hike certainly is beautiful in the fall. There is a lookout spot where the foliage is so perfect. For this reason, I highly recommend going in autumn.

This trail had difficult moments as there was lots of climbing over rocks and steep parts of this trail. At one point, I had to let Oliver and Mia off leash otherwise it would have been treacherous to all three of us. There are lots of moments like this on trails where it's dangerous for myself and for the pups if they were to be kept on leash, especially with two of them. I typically will get them to wait at the top of a hill, I will wander down and when I reach the bottom I will allow them to come to me. I am very lucky that they listen relatively well and their recall is pretty good. I only do this when I am certain no one is around.
I am glad that we started this hike where we did since the majority of this hike was serene and peaceful. Once we reached Old Baldy, the parking lot was filled with cars and there were lots of eager picture taking people everywhere. This is usually the case when there are parking lots close to good lookout spots. People love to get their snap shot photo with very little hiking involved. Personally, I didn't enjoy Old Baldy and none of these photos I've posted are from there. I much prefer the quiet aspect of hiking and meeting only a few people.

This hike had lots of rock crevices and beautiful rock walls. The terrain was challenging at times which I love. Hikes like this pass the time and make the hike that more enjoyable.
This hike took us 3 hrs and 16 min to complete and was 10.5 kms long. 7 kms of the 10.5 are included in the main Bruce Trail hike. McKlusky Rock and Old Baldy are in the Beaver Valley Club section of the Bruce Trail.
Any of the photos where all three of us are in them are used with a phone tripod. Photo Tip with dogs: use the video option and then take still shots of the video. It is nearly impossible to get a good photo of both dogs at the same time
and the video makes it easier to accomplish this. The last photo I absolutely love, Im not sure if there was a sound made in that direction but we all looked that way at the same time which is perfect.

What type of hiker are you? Do you prefer the complete and utter silence with no soul around or do you prefer having lots of people around?
Thanks for reading,
Kendal
